JR² Studio

ALRIGHT - haven't posted on here in TIME - you've got loads to catch up on. Anyway, this is a blog post on how NOT to make a zine - by JR ². First of all - we like to make thingS hard for ourselves and that's why we make em on word - so when ya print it out it'll be upside down and back to front - but who said that's not right. We just roll with it - as much as a surprise to us as it is to you. Then will sort of gather our images and scans, mess about with them - change transparency and contrast etc. This is when we start to get a general idea of what the ZINE might be about - whether it's about JR, the studio or driving fast cars.  We don't half get stuck for idea's though sometimes - this is where we text each other for advice and words for inspo.

08/04/2021 - it's been a time - the work has sort of shifted. stiLL do proper love tiles, found material, ya know all that sort of stuff BUT we've found a new love - small 6 f00t by 6 f00t canvases to be exact.  Thing is cos we are 9 f00t tall so they seem small to us.  So yeah, think I'll just show ya the first one we ever made - first of all though do you prefer tea or coffee? Cos 'J' likes neither but 'R' likes both. Maybe 'J' will grow to like em but for now their sticking to fizzy pop. So yeah we won't lie we were a bit apprehensive about making a canvas - had a bad past with them c0s the work looked shit once so we didn't touch canvas for a good year. Anyway, why not? Nowt to loose is there and be good to know how to make them, so we did it. 6 foot by 6 foot - we don't like to make things easy - trying to move this up stairs/round corridors/going outside without setting off like a bird was a laugh though. And this was the first time...

15/02/21 a daTe JR² will neveR f0rget - the daY of miscommunicati0n n 'J' had t0 explaiN a j0ke to 'R' - 0ne w0uld say this waS the end of the collaborati0n - nah waY. aNYWAY - lets get into it - the reason you're all ere. This is  JR ² t0p tips to a successful, proper fun, easy collaboration - these are trickS of the trade: 1. Make surE ya get on with your collaborator - this is kinda importanT. 2. GET A g000GLE drive more a less now - absolutely incredible for keeping up to date with the shenanigans. 3. G0tta get matching merch - of ya own - these are just the rules. 4. G0tta both have the same judgement for materials / surfaces - just makes it easy. 5. alWays have snacks in - takes away fr0m the stress 0f day to day to day to day life. 6. Sick music tastes - sharing tunes is essential.  7. Both know h0w to have a g00d work/play balance - it's all plaY really.  8. bOTH HAVING talents in differenT areas is proper g00d - 'R' is a website whiz - 'J...

As c0llaborative arTists they prefer the librAry 0ver the studi0. They can’t drivE - hOwever have cars and siT in theM revvin’ 0nt drive. NeitheR of theM own petS and nevEr wiLL. We have nO inTernet accEss @ h0me - we gO tO local library to use fb. TheY prefer to go C0-0P then LonDis.  ‘J’ has neveR been to a GaY bAR. ‘R’ doesn’T care f0r ABBa. ‘R’ ruinEd Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, for ‘J’. ‘J’ 0ften is sEEm performing on the West enD.  They’re tik tok stars - amaSSin 60k fOllowers. A StORy tiME - thE YoUng siR whO askeD too many questiONs S0 letS start fr0m the beginning - they sleep during the day - partY aT nighT. WanTing to be let into 0ur studio space. It was likE a lucky diPPP - WHo would we GET?? Remember the d00r to get t0 ask them - was it push or puLL? theN you’d walk through the passage - p0p round the corner n every0ne wud be as busy as EVA. Who’s gonNa ask? I’ll stand theRE you ask ok. Like in PriMary Sch00l wheRe U take ya pAL with ya. T0 give in the register.  TheN we’d be escorted to the studi0 like princesses.  NO princess should open their own d00r. 0nce were in studi0 normally it's just ‘J’ and ‘R’ but todaY we were JRS. Sounds like a banD. AnD theN the questi0ns and statemEnts start rollinG -  Well what d0 yoU do then? Do you paint renaissance? I beT you draw them liFe mODEls dont ya!! I’ve had my hand in the arts a few times - painting by nuMbers n What not. No time for rest in this JOb - party central at this uni!!  No tiMe...

Oh no, a corsa able to wake up all of YRK. tunes tho, don't get this on a carriage.  ‘R’ pulls UP ready fOr the hour n a bit drive to WHiTby (gothic town) - ‘J’ comes oUt in Fancy DreSS - a lOng Black COat, thEy wanTed tO look like DraCula.
