JR² Studio

I was gonna say 2019 vs 2020 cos' the difference in work is MAD like but it's all from the same year. March vs November with a 7 month break. Not really an optional break though was it, more like everyone thought they were gonna die and then we were allowed out again.  The first studio was JR ²  in their 3rd year when they thought they were proper onto something, producing banger after banger. Now don't get me wrong some pieces were unreal like shed door, door, Eva Hesse mirror (the list goes on) but there was SO much shite in there too. But JR ² genuinely, hand on heart believed everything they made had potential, so don't be the one to ruin that for them and break their little hearts. The good thing about their mindset was/is that they really believe in themselves, one bad piece doesn't put them off, it makes them work 10x harder.   EYYyyyYY  What the bloody hell is going on?? It's 2020, we've graduated from our undergrad, we've done a residency in real life and online, we've started our masters, we've won an award, won an art bundle, bought some grog pens and tiles, been to Berlin, had Barcelona cancelled, bought tickets to see Foals, had Green Day cancelled, found another festival to book on 4th of Dec, to be honest the list goes ON. All while there's a worldwide pandemic or something?? Getting in the way of OUR lives, man. TBF I think we left our brains in MAlton not just the cabinet and chairs.  JR ² plodding through life, doin bits, making work, waitin for the next big thing (AKA us being famouS) it's comin, just you wait. Well, JR ² are back at university doing a Masters (yep we know they're shocked too) and smashing out more work than ever before. They walked back into the studio in October and we're twiddling their fingers wondering what they could make but just over a month later they can't be slowed down. There's wooden boxes/cupboards washed with white paint, tiled boards, 100's of drawings on paper, ratchet straps and frames scattered all over their studio. They genuinely are here there and everywhere. One minute they're throwing paint around on a wooden box and then whilst that's drying doing 20 second word association drawings with each other. If you wanna know what inside their minds look like just look at the state of the studio. They're currently on an online residency on 'Orbit's' Instagram page which should get the 'grams followers up, not like they're shallow or out and trying to work from home doing some research but who cares about that...
