SHED DooR



‘R’ had been away for the weekend, ‘J’ had been working. The duo was buzzing to get back to the studio the following week though, mainly because ‘R’ was getting some work done at home. This meant loads of surfaces and objects to work onto. A few trips to uni and back, dropping off doors and drawers, including this shed door, it was time for new work.
When they approach a new object there is never a proper plan, sometimes they’ll draw two marks and be done. Other times it’s something they’ll come back to for a few weeks. This wasn’t one of those times.
With a big brush they made these quick, immediate marks, and then to clarify it was a shed door, they wrote it down. 2 minutes later it was done and probably a current favourite of theirs. 
Anyway, if anyone is getting rid of any shed doors, HMU.

ShAll we g0 to whitby tomorrow?  Yeah caN d0 got nowt else on. I’ll have to checK my 2p allowance. OK well, it is 10pm n0w, so if I pick U up at LETS say 10am That giVes US a lOvely sleep iN. Oh no, a corsa able to wake up all of YRK. tunes tho, don't get this on a carriage.  ‘R’ pulls UP ready fOr the hour n a bit drive to WHiTby (gothic town) - ‘J’ comes oUt in Fancy DreSS - a lOng Black COat, thEy wanTed tO look like DraCula. Studio 1 vs 2- A shoRt StOry

I was gonna say 2019 vs 2020 cos' the difference in work is MAD like but it's all from the same year. March vs November with a 7 month break. Not really an optional break though was it, more like everyone thought they were gonna die and then we were allowed out again.  The first studio was JR ²  in their 3rd year when they thought they were proper onto something, producing banger after banger. Now don't get me wrong some pieces were unreal like shed door, door, Eva Hesse mirror (the list goes on) but there was SO much shite in there too. But JR ² genuinely, hand on heart believed everything they made had potential, so don't be the one to ruin that for them and break their little hearts. The good thing about their mindset was/is that they really believe in themselves, one bad piece doesn't put them off, it makes them work 10x harder. 00PS - a sh0rt break

08/04/2021 - it's been a time - the work has sort of shifted. stiLL do proper love tiles, found material, ya know all that sort of stuff BUT we've found a new love - small 6 f00t by 6 f00t canvases to be exact.  Thing is cos we are 9 f00t tall so they seem small to us.  So yeah, think I'll just show ya the first one we ever made - first of all though do you prefer tea or coffee? Cos 'J' likes neither but 'R' likes both. Maybe 'J' will grow to like em but for now their sticking to fizzy pop. So yeah we won't lie we were a bit apprehensive about making a canvas - had a bad past with them c0s the work looked shit once so we didn't touch canvas for a good year. Anyway, why not? Nowt to loose is there and be good to know how to make them, so we did it. 6 foot by 6 foot - we don't like to make things easy - trying to move this up stairs/round corridors/going outside without setting off like a bird was a laugh though.
